Docklands20.3.06Taking a walk around the neighbourhood can sure be interesting sometimes. You tend to find some things that you never knew were there. I get easily excited when I spot a new restaurant or a new shop or anything new. Who knew there was a Dairy Bell here at Docklands? And did you know there was a Red Rooster and a food court here as well?! *HAH* And plus, there's a Planet Surf shop here as well (although, I feel that this might be a little out of place at victoria harbour). And since Moomba isn't on this year - what with the Commonwealth Games and F1 happening at the same time, the rides have all been moved to the Docklands. Anyone care to join me on the ferris wheel? =)This really is a nice spot, this Docklands.
This is one of Melbourne's famous urban art pieces - "Cow Up A Tree". OK, so you may look at it and think "what the hell?!" But I rather fancy it, not so much for it's artistic value, but just because I think it's funny. Plus, come night time, the cow lights up with little purple bulbs. Very cool. The story behind this art piece: Some time ago, there was a flood down in the Gippsland area of Victoria. Cattle were involved. And when the waters subsided, there it was, a carcass of a cow up a tree.
1924 - 200611.3.06I didn't make it in time to say goodbye. June came too late. And now it's too late. I hope that she knew how much I loved her. And how much I wish I could have seen her one last time. And how much I wish I could be there tomorrow to see her off for the last time. But as much as I wished she had held on, I know she is in a better place now. No more suffering, no more pain.I will hold dear to my heart, all memories I have of you. All those times I would lie and fall asleep in your bed while Mum and you chatted the night away. And the times I would measure myself up against you because you were the shortest in the family and I wanted to be taller than you. And how you always wore those matching samfu tops and pants. And the white powder you used to put on your face. And the food you cooked. And the times you would call me "chee-cha poh". And how you would tell me off for only being able to speak so little Teochew. I will miss my ah-mah so, so much. Attention Doughnut Lovers!!!9.3.06So it may be high in sugar, high in fat, high in calories. But who cares when it melts in your mouth and tastes oh so good. I sure don't. Especially after I've had a rack and a half of Hard Rock Cafe BBQ ribs. Forget healthy!!! Think yummy!!! No more lugging around boxes of stale doughnuts from Sydney (thanks Chew for all the times that you did!), because Melbourne, get ready...Health and Fitness: The Facts2.3.06Q: I've heard that cardiovascular exercise can prolong life. Is this true??A: Your heart is only good for so many beats and that's it... don't waste them on exercise. Everything wears out eventually. Speeding up your heart will not make you live longer; that's like saying you can extend the life of your car by driving it faster. Want to live longer? Take a nap. Q: Should I cut down on meat and eat more fruits and vegetables? A: You must grasp logistical efficiencies. What does a cow eat? Hay and corn. And what are these? Vegetables. So a steak is nothing more than an efficient mechanism of delivering vegetables to your system. If you need grain then eat chicken. Beef is also a good source of field grass (Green leafy vegetable). And a pork chop can give you 100% of your recommended daily allowance of vegetable products. Q: Should I reduce my alcohol intake? A: No, not oat all. Wine is made from fruit. Brandy is distilled wine, that means they take the water out of the fruity bit so you get even more of the goodness that way. Beer is also made out of grain. Bottoms up! Q: How can i calculate my body/fat ratio? A: Well, if you have a body and you have body fat, your raio is one to one. If you have two bodies, your ratio is two to one, etc. Q: What are some of the advantages of participating in a regular exercise program? Can't think of a single one, sorry. My philosophy is: No pain = Good. Q: Aren't fried foods bad for you? A: YOU'RE NOT LISTENING!!! Foods are fried these days in vegetable oil. In fact, they're permeated in it. How could getting more vegetables be bad for you? Q: Will sit-ups help prevent me from getting a little soft around the middle? A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach. Q: Is chocolate bad for me? A: Are you crazy? HELLO.... Cocoa beans... another vegetable!!! It's the best feel-good food around! Q: Is swimming good for your figure? A: If swimming is good for your figure, explain whales to me. Q: Is getting in shape important for my lifestyle? A: "Round" is a shape isn't it?? |
