Just ok

14.5.06

Just okay. Not bad. The usual. Same old, same old. Normal.

Everytime someone asks how work is, I pick and choose from the above. It's never 'Great', or 'Excellent' or 'Loving every minute of it'. There are definitely days when I feel a little more optimistic or enthusiastic about something that happened at work - like when we win a business, or when someone pats you on the back for a job well done. But there are never mornings where I get up and feel excited about having to work.

Sure, my job isn't the most exciting one in the world. Afterall, what am I but a lowly paid number cruncher. The actuarial profession isn't exactly the most glamorous in the world. It may be lucrative if and when you eventually get to the top, but rightly so for the sacrifices that you make along the way.

I don't hate my job. But sometimes, it becomes a struggle to stay motivated when there isn't much enthusiasm running around inside of you. Still, a job is a job. It puts the clothes on my back, puts the food on the table, and gives me the little luxuries in life that I am fortunate to have.

And so I remain envious. Envious of you. Those who have found their calling in life. Those who believe enough in their passion to make a career of it. Those who know why they do what they do, and those who love what they do.

Free at last

13.5.06

"Oh Mickey you're so fine, you're so fine you blow my mind... hey Mickey, hey Mickey"... Ahhh.. the wonderful sounds of Mambo night at hushbar.

Free at last... for the time being at least. No more studying for the next month and a half. Such a welcomed break.

I've got so many things to rant about, but the fingers refuse to do any more work. Maybe next time.
